CHANGING FUNCTIONS

The first thing that comes to your mind after an idea for a new product is conceptualized can be:
CREATION OF A PROTOTYPE?
OR
CREATION OF A FUNCTIONAL PRODUCT?
We are back with a brand new functional product by Subinay Malhotra, Raffles Millenium International, New Delhi with the different aspects of changing functions of an existing product into a Desk Lamp.

Concept :
  • Accidents
  • Worn out
  • Vintage
  • Strong
  • Aggressive
  • Scary
  • Glossy
  • Energy saving
MODEL MAKING PROCESS
It all started by bringing in a helmet and it was sanded to get the structure without paint.

SHAPING AND CARVING OF WOOD
Wood pieces were then shaped using the sanding machine and carved by hand to get the final shape that had to look like bones.

WOOD TREATMENTS AND MOCK UP POSITIONING OF THE PARTS
Wood was treated and the model parts were positioned to find the best possible ways to be arranged and joined together.

The best part about the lamp is that it is completely handmade, even the small details including the small bone for the switch.
